2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray

In this case, the gas engine that is put to use is a serious one – it’s a 6.2L V8 that puts out 495 horsepower on its own. Even without the help of an electric motor, this would already be a fast and powerful vehicle.

The electric drive unit that partners with the gas engine to drive this version of the Corvette brings an additional 160 horsepower to the equation. This motor powers the front axle and is what allows the E-Ray to accelerate from a stop so suddenly. When you aren’t in the mood for raw performance and just want to move your vehicle around the block without firing up that big V8, you can operate the car in EV-only mode.
